As some trends are unique to Germany, many others match the frequency of movements related to abroad or overseas. Germany is a nation that is very fond of sports. In 2011, Germany is looking forward to host FIFA Women’s World Cup, and Berlin will host the IAAF 2009 Athletics World Championships. For instance, decorating a Christmas tree or hiding Easter eggs are widespread traditions that got originated in Germany. It is the time when all customs symbolize a renewal of life and the start of the spring. Special meals, colorful eggs, huge bonfires and special meals with the services of church are some of the customs that symbolize this special time of the year.



In Germany, Christmas is celebrated as a very traditional family celebration. A variety of German traditions have become staples around the world, such as Advent calendars, Christmas markets and popular cards.  If you visit Rhineland, a town in Germany in the Southwestern region during the dark days of winter, don’t be surprised to see the whole place spilled in colors. That is because the period before Ash Wednesday is called as Carnival or the fifth season. Fine wines, great cuisine and excellent beers form an essential part of life in Germany. While traditional favorites can still be enjoyed, food in Germany has become more creative and varied in recent years. German beer and wine that have a long history in to cherish, have become very famous worldwide, with time. More than the drinking and brewing of beer, there are a few traditions that color the world’s perception.  Beer is an important feature of German culture along with 1300 active breweries.

Professional and amateur chefs hold on to these distinctions, yet a multi ethnic fare that reflects country’s vibrant immigrant population has also come into view.
