>> Travel Essentials in China
In China, the number of international visitors had risen to an impressive number as high as 130 million last year. With this rapid speed of development in tourism, it can be predicted that in less than a decade, the nation will become the first destination of tourists with the greatest number of visitors from across the world. Take a look at the key features that should be kept in mind while on a visit to China.
People
The names of the individuals in China comprise of the given names and the surnames. The main sources of surnames come from the cases as follows: first, in matriarchal society, an individual’s mother’s name as the family name, like (Ji), 姚 (Yao) and 姜 (Jiang); second, in the distant past, the names of the living creatures who were worshipped were taken as the family names, like 牛 (Niu), 马 (Ma) and 羊 (Yang); third, the ancestors' country names were taken as the family names, such as 宋 (Song), 秦 (Qin), 赵 (Zhao) and 吴 (Wu). The given names often connect with good wills, and women's given names are usually different from men's.
Language
Mandarin (Putong Hua, Hanyu, Huayu, Guoyu, standard Chinese) is the language spoken by Chinese people and this language is based on Beijing Dialect. It is concluded from the inscriptions on oracle bones in the Shang Dynasty that the formation of Chinese characters has a history of about 3,000 years. This development can be partitioned in to two major periods: from mini-seal script to the inscriptions on oracle bones, and from modern character to Li- calligraphy.
Holidays
The public holidays enjoyed by the Chinese people are: the Spring Festival, New Year's Day, the Qingming Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival, the May Day, the National Day, and the Mid-autumn Festival. During this span of holidays, a lot of people would like to go travelling or have good rest. The National Holiday and the Spring Festival, these two ‘Golden Weeks’ are the times rich for the business of passenger transport as the Chinese prefer going for family reunion or traveling, so these are the most crowded days to plan a trip to China.
Food and Beverages
A vast nation China is a place where people contain varied views about ways of life, cultural and economic development, customs as well as general local conditions. The superb cooking and local flavors form the present from the eight provinces of world: Shandong, Sichuan, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Fujian, Zhejiang, Anhui, and Hunan; the famous Chinese Eight Cuisines portrays some unique characteristics.
Shopping
Art speaks for itself and for that matter Chinese art works like embroidery, porcelain, painting and jade ware are very popular overseas and inside the nation. As a tourists coming to China, you may want to purchase something as memento. However, beware of the shopping trap. This indicates as to be cautious of the fact that where to buy things from and what to buy, with how much bargain and the like.
