World cup Twenty20 has been organized by the ICC that is the International Cricket Council and is the international championship of T20 cricket. This grand cricket tournament has got almost all cricket teams from several countries together thus sports enthusiasts got encouraged with their performances. This year’s T20 World Cup was won by Pakistan, thousands of Pakistanis got down to streets to celebrate the joy of their country’s victory. Pakistan played the finals against Sri Lanka on 21st June, 2009 and Pakistan took an eight wicket victory. The entire event was organized by the international cricket council, the sport’s governing body.
A total of 12 male teams participated and contested by all Test playing nations. The inaugural event of the T20 world cup got staged in South Africa and the tournament was won by India, however, this time Pakistan took the Twenty20 World cup trophy. The Test-playing nations automatically get qualified to this cricket live matches. The live cricket scores were enjoyed by people throughout the world. All the matches were well organized and fixed for proper schedules. For this world cup, the teams were divided into four groups with three teams each. These four groups A, B, C and D form the complete team structure for this international world cup tournament.

Group B - Netherlands, England, Pakistan
Group C - Sri Lanka, West Indies, Australia
Group D - South Africa, Scotland, New Zealand
The last live cricket match on 21st June was played by Pakistan against Sri Lanka. The entire Pakistan team has shown an outstanding performance especially, Abdul Razzaq who took three wickets. Shahid Afridi and Kamran Akmal showed their ultimate performance by outshining on the field. They batted well with a motive of winning this world championship and they scored well against Sri Lanka and did well in the tournament.
Tournament Format: The format of this grand cricket tournament for the year 2007 and 2009 featured four stages:
Group Stage: The first and the foremost stage is the group stage in which the above mentioned groups were being made. Each team plays two games qualifying for the super 8s.
Super 8s: In this stage two four team groups play three games each. This formation of groups was pre-decided.
Semi-Finals: After super 8s the semi final stage comes into picture. In this the group winners playing the runner up of the other Super 8 group.
Final: The last stage is the final match played within the winners of both Semi-Finals.
This year, Pakistan beat Sri-Lanka by 8 wickets with remaining 8 balls. Sri-Lanka made 138/6, Kumara Sangakkara batted well after some of the top players failed to achieve their goals. As far as the players of the winning team are concerned, they all played really well. Shahid Afridi scored 54 runs from 40 deliveries. His score includes 2 sixes and 2 fours. He scored the winning shot and went on to take up victory for his team and his country. Thus, with this interesting live cricket match, the tournament for this season got ended by declaring Pakistan as the winner for ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2009.
